Alaska State Troopers entered three Two Rivers juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 16, as missing and runaway after they left their home on foot late Saturday following an argument over discipline.

Troopers got a call about the three at about 11:23 pm Oct. 31 from their adoptive parent's home in Two Rivers, near Fairbanks, according to the Department of Public Safety daily dispatch. The dispatch was posted by D Detachment, the troopers' Fairbanks-area post.

The parent, who is also the children's guardian, told troopers she was disciplining them by grounding them and taking away their cellphones. An argument followed, and all three children left on foot, dressed for the weather.

She told troopers she yelled at the children that she was "going to go to sleep and lock the doors."

The dispatch says the three are believed to be at a friend's house somewhere in the nearby neighborhood, but the parent does not know where. Troopers entered the children as missing and runaway. The dispatch, posted early Sunday, does not say whether they have since been found, and it does not give their names.

Alaska has no waiting period for reporting a missing person, and the state advises calling 911 right away when there is an emergency or an immediate concern for someone's safety. When someone reports a missing person, troopers ask for identifying details, clothing and gear, the last known location and time, travel plans and medical information, according to the department's search and rescue page.
