Missing 11-year-old located safe in Wasilla

Troopers located an 11-year-old Wasilla boy safe Friday afternoon, hours after seeking the public's help finding him.

Franklyn Andersen was last seen riding a bicycle around 10:30 a.m. on Greensward Drive, Alaska State Troopers said in dispatch AK26087656, which asked anyone who knew where he was to call.

"UPDATE: Franklyn Andersen has been located safe. Thanks for your assistance," Austin McDaniel, the Department of Public Safety communications director and interim deputy commissioner, posted at 1:59 p.m.

Troopers publicized the search through their daily dispatch, not a formal Amber Alert. Those alerts require law enforcement to be reasonably certain a child has been abducted and is in imminent danger of serious harm or death, and are not used for runaways.
