Troopers arrest Gakona woman on felony meth charges after Glennallen stop

A trooper stopped a vehicle at mile 187 of the Glenn Highway about 7 p.m. on July 22 for moving and registration violations, according to Alaska State Troopers. Following further investigation and observations, a village public safety officer's dog, VPSO K9 Debo, conducted a narcotics sniff. Troopers seized the vehicle, and a search warrant was executed.

The search recovered roughly 73 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and more than $1,000 in cash, along with other items the dispatch describes as associated with narcotics distribution.

An arrest warrant followed, and Yahneenah Sinyon, of Gakona and Valdez, was taken into custody Saturday, nearly two months after the stop, on felony charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the third and fourth degrees, class B and class C felonies, a trooper dispatch states, case AK26070911. The dispatch notes that charges are accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The dispatch is troopers' own account, and it lists no bail amount or arraignment date.
