Troopers arrest a Kenai man on a drug warrant after a Nikiski stop

Alaska State Troopers arrested Bryan Chunn, 43, of Kenai on an outstanding drug warrant Sunday after a traffic stop on the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski.

Troopers recognized the passenger as Chunn at about 2:23 pm, per the trooper dispatch. The warrant's original charge was misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony. The dispatch does not say that warrant involved methamphetamine. Troopers found 1.30 grams of methamphetamine in his belongings.

Chunn was jailed at Wildwood Correctional Complex on the warrant, a fourth-degree drug charge and a probation violation. The charges are accusations; he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The Department of Public Safety's 2025 drug report lists methamphetamine among the most common drugs in Kenai and 10 other Alaska regions, and prices it there at $100 a gram, putting 1.30 grams at about $130.
