Ten sockeye a day holds through December in the Wood and Nushagak

Anglers can keep 10 sockeye a day in the Wood River and Nushagak-Mulchatna drainages through the end of the year, double the usual limit. Chum, pink and coho remain capped at five in combination, and king salmon rules are unchanged.

Fish and Game doubled the sockeye limit at the end of June because escapement had already run past its goals, with a surplus of fish crossing the Portage Creek sonar.

The kings in the same water are a different story. Nushagak kings were designated a stock of concern in 2022, and recent runs have fallen short of the escapement goal of 55,000 to 120,000. Department and Board of Fisheries materials note that tension alongside the liberalized sockeye limits.
