Tanana Chiefs benefits staff come to McGrath on Wednesday

McGrath residents can meet Tanana Chiefs Conference benefits staff in person Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the McGrath Native Village Council building. Staff from energy assistance, education and employment, and the tribal cash assistance program will be on hand to help people access services.

The evening pairs that help with a community night: bingo, crafting, a photo booth, self-care activities and taco night.

TCC serves 37 federally recognized tribes across a 235,000-square-mile stretch of Interior Alaska, and its programs are generally open to tribal members and their families, with some services also tied to income. Families already receiving SSI, TANF or SNAP qualify for energy assistance regardless.

TCC lists the McGrath visit as running Aug. 17 through 20, but describes only the Wednesday evening event. Anyone who can't make it can reach the employment and training program by phone, and village applicants can also get help through the tribal council office.
