T-CHEST environmental services training set for Anchorage, needs 20 sign-ups by Sept. 4

Alaska health care facilities have until Sept. 4 to fill at least 20 seats, the minimum needed for a Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician Train-the-Trainer session in Anchorage.

The program is for environmental services (EVS) leaders. Infection preventionists and administrators can forward it to eligible colleagues. Registration is open at ahe.org/calendar-events.

The training runs Monday, Sept. 14, through Wednesday, Sept. 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the BP Energy Center, 1014 Energy Court. Such trainings are typically held on the East Coast, the Alaska Department of Health said. The department called strong EVS programs essential to preventing health care-associated infections.

Participants earn the T-CHEST designation, required for leading trainings and certifying technicians, plus 24 continuing education credits.

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology Midnight Sun Chapter and the Alaska Hospital & Healthcare Association are co-hosting the session. The two groups also sponsor Alaska's infection prevention conference, set for Oct. 14-15.
