The Alaska Department of Natural Resources plans to give the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities 200,000 cubic yards of material from two Interior roadside pits, at no charge. Its Northern Regional Office posted both notices of intent to issue material sale contracts Oct. 2.

The first notice, ADL 422965, covers 100,000 cubic yards from the Panguingue Creek Pit, near milepost 252.5 of the Parks Highway north of Healy. The second, ADL 422964, covers the same amount from the Paradise Pit, near milepost 1238 of the Alcan Highway between Northway and Border City.

Both notices cite a state rule that prices material for a state agency at $0.00 per cubic yard. Both pits are already designated extraction sites. The notices do not list the projects the material will serve.

On Wednesday, the office posted notice that it intends to sell ATS Construction 20,000 cubic yards from Paradise Hill Quarry, on the same designated site at milepost 1238, at a market-based price.

Neither transportation department notice lists a comment deadline, but the state's public notice site takes comments. AJ Wait at the Northern Regional Office takes questions on both.
