Soldotna man arrested on DUI and weapons charges near Ninilchik after REDDI calls
Multiple drivers called 911 to report a green Toyota SUV speeding and swerving near mile 140 of the Sterling Highway Saturday evening, according to Alaska State Troopers. Troopers stopped the vehicle after the Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately, or REDDI, complaints came in at 6:17 p.m. Sept. 12, 2026.
The driver, Denai Christopher Croley of Soldotna, showed signs of impairment and had a handgun in the vehicle, troopers said. Croley failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested. Troopers took him to Homer Jail, where he was held on one count of driving under the influence and one count of fourth-degree misconduct involving weapons. Croley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Troopers ask motorists who see dangerous driving to call 911 and file a REDDI report. The program has led to other stops on the Kenai Peninsula this summer, including a July arrest on the Sterling Highway near milepost 80.
The Alaska Court of Appeals has ruled that information from a REDDI report not relayed to officers at the scene cannot justify a stop.
The dispatch includes no response from Croley.
