Sitka's Moller Field parking lot closes Oct. 7 and 8 for paving

Anyone driving to Moller Field next Wednesday or Thursday will need to park somewhere else. The main lot will be fully closed Oct. 7 and 8 while a City and Borough of Sitka contractor paves it.

The city is pointing drivers to three alternate spots: the Turnaround Skate Park, the Lower Moller parking area and the back lot at SEARHC Long-Term Care. Public Works asks people to park only in spaces marked by cones at those lots. That's meant to leave enough room for SEARHC employees and visitors.

Walkers headed to the field should follow the pathways shown on the city's project map, which route foot traffic around the work zone. The city also asks people to use caution, follow posted signs and stay out of active work areas.

The city is also closing Lincoln Street beside St. Michael's Cathedral to through traffic Oct. 5 through 15 for water line work. Detours use Maksoutoff Street from the east, American Street from the west.

Questions about the Moller Field work go to Sitka Public Works at 907-747-1804 or [email protected].
