Lincoln Street in downtown Sitka to close Oct. 5 to 15 for water line work

Drivers and walkers in downtown Sitka will need another route for 11 days next month. The City and Borough of Sitka will close part of Lincoln Street next to St. Michael's Cathedral from Monday, Oct. 5, through Thursday, Oct. 15, to put in a water line.

Drivers coming toward downtown from the east will detour on Maksoutoff Street, and those coming from the west will use American Street. People on foot will also be routed around the work.

The city asks everyone to take care, leave extra time and follow the detour signs. Its notice includes a map of the closure, and questions can go to Sitka Public Works.
