Retired APD lieutenant elected to oversee police and fire pensions

Anchorage police members have elected retired Lt. Anthony "Tony" Henry to represent them on the board that manages their pensions, in a near-unanimous vote — 115 of 119 ballots cast. The Assembly is set to confirm the appointment at its Aug. 4 meeting.

Henry would take the police seat on the Anchorage Police & Fire Retirement System's Board of Trustees, succeeding Everett Robbins, whose term ended June 30. The board sets benefit levels, tracks the system's funding and directs its investments — decisions that shape the retirement security of Anchorage police officers and firefighters. The new term runs through June 2029.

Henry joined the police department in 1992 and retired as a lieutenant. In his candidate statement, he said he has attended the system's annual investment review to prepare for the board's fiduciary responsibilities.
