Parks Highway closed at MP 274 near Clear Space Force Station

A disabled semi-truck is blocking the Parks Highway at Milepost 274, just south of Clear Space Force Station, closing the road as of early Thursday.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities issued the alert at 1:34 AM UTC Thursday. The closure is listed as active through 1:33 AM UTC Friday, July 18. The alert covers the Denali and Fairbanks regions.

Delays Expected

Milepost 274 sits in the Interior stretch of the Parks Highway between Nenana and Healy, a segment that carries freight, tourism traffic to Denali, and the primary overland connection between Anchorage and Fairbanks. The 323-mile highway is the primary overland route linking Southcentral and Interior Alaska.

The corridor has seen closures before. In June 2025, DOT&PF shut both directions from mile marker 267 to 278 when the Bear Creek Fire crossed the roadway near the same stretch.
