Truck crash blocks Glenn Highway in both directions east of Eureka Summit
A truck was blocking the Glenn Highway in both directions between mile markers 137 and 139 after a crash reported at 8:10 am Thursday, according to Alaska 511.
That stretch is about eight miles east of Eureka Summit, the highest point on the Glenn, near the Little Nelchina River crossing and about 50 miles west of Glennallen.
The state traffic system lists a planned end time of 12:12 pm. It advises drivers to use caution, with response crews and equipment in the area.
Alaska 511 does not list the event as a full road closure and gives no information on which lanes are affected. The listing, last updated at 8:14 am, does not say whether anyone was injured, what caused the crash or who was involved.
The Glenn Highway is a federally designated freight route, according to the Alaska Strategic Freight Plan.
Drivers can follow updates on the Alaska 511 Glenn Highway map or by calling 511.
