North Pole man charged with felony assault for throwing rocks at cars

Alaska State Troopers arrested a North Pole man Friday after they say he was throwing rocks at passing cars near Badger Road and Endicott Avenue — and then threw rocks at the patrol cars that responded.

Troopers identified him as Jonathan Moreland, 23. He's charged with two counts of third-degree assault, a felony, along with third-degree criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and a probation violation, and was taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center. The charges are accusations, and Moreland is presumed innocent unless proven guilty; the trooper dispatch includes no account from him or an attorney.
