Mountain Village man arrested on three sexual abuse of a minor charges

Alphonsus Chiklak, 47, of Mountain Village faces two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 1st Degree and one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 2nd Degree following his arrest by Alaska State Troopers on June 29. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Troopers opened the investigation on January 9, 2026, after someone filed a report of historical sexual abuse. The inquiry ran nearly six months before the arrest. C Detachment Investigations is handling the case under number AK26002584.

Attorney General nominee Stephen Cox told the Senate Judiciary Committee in May that domestic violence and sexual assault in rural Alaska remain "the topmost priority" of the Department of Law's public safety mission.
