Kasilof man under sexual abuse investigation dies of apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound

A man under investigation for allegedly sexually abusing a minor in Kasilof died Thursday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, before Alaska State Troopers investigators reached his home.

Troopers received a report in July alleging the sexual abuse of a minor, and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation took the case and began investigating the allegation. On Aug. 13, investigators learned the man had confessed to a relative and then made suicidal statements, according to the dispatch, and went immediately to his residence.

Troopers did not release his name. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy, which will determine the cause of death. The dispatch, does not state whether charges were filed. The allegation was never adjudicated, and with his death it cannot be.
