Search resumes on Kasilof River for man missing after boat overturns

Charles Nikolas, 67, of Kasilof is missing after the boat he was in overturned on the Kasilof River on Sunday. A woman who was aboard reached shore. He did not.

Wildlife troopers and State Parks resumed the search Monday morning with a Department of Public Safety helicopter, a boat and crews on the ground.

Troopers in Soldotna took the report Sunday. Wildlife troopers, park rangers and Central Emergency Services searched by land and boat that day, with a fixed-wing aircraft overhead and the helicopter flying down from Anchorage. They called off the search at 8 pm without finding him.

Troopers have not said what kind of boat it was, what the water was doing, or whether anyone aboard was wearing a life jacket.
