Motorcyclist critically injured in Kalifornsky Beach Road crash near Kasilof

A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Monday, Aug. 31, in a collision with a pickup truck on Kalifornsky Beach Road near Kasilof, the Alaska State Troopers said.

The rider was flown by air ambulance to Anchorage and then to Seattle, according to trooper dispatch AK26086047. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Troopers responded at 12:19 p.m. Their preliminary investigation found the pickup was turning left off Kalifornsky Beach Road when the motorcycle, traveling behind it, attempted to pass and struck the truck's driver's side. Neither driver has been named. The dispatch is the only account so far, and it reflects the troopers' findings alone.

Troopers based in Soldotna, in the agency's A Detachment, are continuing the investigation.
