Idaho firm that already runs the Alcan port wins its $48,169 snow removal order

An out-of-state company will handle winter snow and ice removal at the Alcan Land Port of Entry near Tok under a $48,169 General Services Administration task order running Oct. 1 through May 31, 2027.

Northern Management Services, Inc., of Sandpoint, Idaho, won the task order to service the port at Milepost 1221.8 on the Alaska Highway. The company holds a GSA schedule contract through October 2028, a standing agreement agencies buy from, with more than $138 million in federal obligations, and won two repair orders for the Fairbanks Federal Building.

The order is a call under a blanket agreement through which the company won $1.16 million in July to run operations and maintenance at the Fairbanks Federal Building and the Alcan port. It has taken over $43 million in Alaska work since 2020.

At a June Commonwealth North forum, Ross Johnston asked "how many of those contracts are being fulfilled by Alaska employers and how many are being fulfilled by companies from outside of Alaska."

The task order, 47PG5126F0020, was competed. The record lists it as full and open competition under multiple-award fair opportunity, with no set-aside.
