A Wasilla company sweeps a Detroit dock and runs five border ports

The General Services Administration is paying a Wasilla company $3,419 to sweep construction dust off a loading dock in Detroit.

The order covers concrete flooring and horizontal surfaces in the platform, recycle room and ramp at the Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building, and runs a single day, Sept. 1.

It is a small call against something much larger. KCORP Reliance Company holds a contract issued in 2024 to clean four federal buildings in Detroit: the McNamara, the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse, the U.S. Customs Cargo Inspection Facility and the Rosa Parks Federal Building. It runs through April 2027, carries a ceiling of $32.9 million with $15.6 million obligated, and drew 24 offers.

Detroit is not the biggest piece. KCORP also holds $5.49 million for operations and maintenance at the San Ysidro and Tecate land ports of entry on the California border with Mexico, and $4.19 million at the Otay, Calexico and Andrade ports. Both start Sept. 1.

The company is Alaska Native corporation-owned, an 8(a) participant, and based in a federally designated Historically Underutilized Business Zone.
