Hecla posts six Greens Creek job openings; Juneau hot jobs list closes Thursday

Hecla Mining Company is hiring for six Juneau-area positions on the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development's weekly hot jobs list, covering Aug. 20 through Aug. 27. Both dates are Thursdays; the list turns over today. Job seekers can apply through AlaskaJobs or call the Juneau Job Center at 907-465-4562 with the job order number.

The openings are mining engineer, experienced miner, underground lube technician II, surface maintenance mechanic, mill operator technician III and powerhouse maintenance technician. The list gives job order numbers but no wages or start dates. This notice does not carry them; the job center can.

Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company operates the Greens Creek silver, zinc, lead and gold mine on Admiralty Island, about 18 miles southwest of Juneau. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources says the mine runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Hecla reports approximately 540 direct jobs; the state recorded about 440 in 2021.
