Hecla is hiring for six jobs at the Greens Creek mine near Juneau

Hecla Mining is hiring for six jobs at Greens Creek, the round-the-clock silver mine on Admiralty Island about 18 miles southwest of Juneau.

The openings run from a mining engineer and an experienced miner to a mill operator, a surface maintenance mechanic, a powerhouse maintenance technician and an underground lube technician. They are on the state's weekly job list; wages and start dates aren't posted, but the Juneau Job Center can fill those in.

Greens Creek pulls silver, zinc, lead and gold from the island year-round — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the state says — and employs about 540 people. Job seekers can apply through AlaskaJobs.
