Four wind advisories cover Alaska through Thursday with gusts to 60 mph

Four wind advisories are up across Alaska through Thursday, with the strongest gusts arriving overnight and into the morning.

Anchorage and Eagle River are under advisory from 1 a.m. to noon, with gusts up to 50 mph and the hardest wind along Turnagain Arm in south and west Anchorage. Weeks of rain have left the ground saturated, which makes trees — especially ones already damaged or diseased — likelier to come down. Forecasters say a few power outages are possible.

Elsewhere, gusts could hit 55 mph in the Interior Kuskokwim Delta, where travel may be difficult, and 60 mph across the Eastern Alaska Range and around Windy Pass in the northern Denali Borough.
