Doyon is taking applications from shareholders to fill the board seat left open when Geraldine "Geri" Simon became executive director of the Doyon Foundation. Applications are due Monday, Nov. 9, at 5 pm.

Simon, a shareholder from Allakaket, won a three-year board term on March 13, 2026. She stepped down as director and board secretary after taking the foundation job on Sept. 14. The corporation's leadership page lists 12 directors on its 13-member board, chaired by Christopher Simon.

Applicants must be voting shareholders at least 18 years old, under a bylaws provision governing how the board fills vacancies. They must also disclose any legal proceedings against Doyon in the past 10 years, any business or competing interests held since Oct. 1, 2025, and any family ties to current directors, nominees or officers.

Doyon had said it would outline a replacement process after a November board meeting, and it hasn't published a date for a decision.

Four other board seats are on the March 2027 ballot through a separate process. Applications for those seats closed Oct. 5, and shareholders will vote on them March 12, 2027.
