Doyon shareholders have until Oct. 5 to apply for four open board seats

Four seats on Doyon's board come open next year, and shareholders who want one have until Oct. 5 to say so.

The corporation is taking applications from voting shareholders 18 and older. The deadline is a hard one: an application has to be in hand by 5 pm that Monday, not in the mail, to make it into the proxy materials shareholders vote on.

Those votes come at the annual meeting on March 12, and each seat carries a three-year term running to 2030.

The four seats are currently held by Walter "Wally" Carlo, Charleen C. Fisher, Audrey George and Christopher Simon, on a 13-member board.

Doyon said no rural directors are required in this election, though shareholders may elect any number. Rural, for Doyon's purposes, means the Tanana Chiefs Conference region outside the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
