Razor Clam Permit Reporting Deadline

Households holding the new Cook Inlet and North Gulf Coast razor clam permit must file an online harvest report by Dec. 31, 2026, even if they never dug a clam; skipping that report means losing eligibility for a permit next year. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Southern Kenai and Lower Cook Inlet fishing report for Friday directs anglers to review the standing emergency orders in full before their next trip and links to the order that established the razor clam permit requirement.

The permit came out of the Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting in March 2025 and took effect this season under an ADF&G emergency order issued March 19. It applies to the sport and personal use razor clam fisheries. Permits are available online through the ADF&G store, under the "Fishing & Shellfish Permits" tab, or through the mobile app. Only one permit is issued per household, and every household member who plans to dig must be listed on it. In West Cook Inlet, the daily limit is 10 gallons per person, and each listed member has to dig their own clams. The East Cook Inlet sport and personal use razor clam fisheries remain closed for 2026.

A household that does not submit a report by the deadline, including a report showing no harvest, will not be eligible for a permit in 2027. Households that skip the report lose next year's permit, regardless of whether anyone in the household actually fished. Questions go to the Homer ADF&G office at 907-235-8191.
