Alaska ranks 45th in federal dollars and 8th per person

Alaska has drawn $15.39 billion in federal awards this fiscal year, across 19,003 contracts, grants, direct payments and loans to recipients whose primary location is Alaska, according to USAspending.gov.

By total dollars that ranks 45th of 56 states and territories, behind Hawaii at $15.78 billion and ahead of New Hampshire at $13.91 billion. By the site's own per-capita figure, at $20,799 a head, Alaska ranks 8th.

Neither number says how much stayed here. The recipient list includes Alaska Native corporation subsidiaries doing federal work in other states, the largest this month being $131 million to Nova Space Solutions from NASA. Money that moves downstream to tribes, villages and subcontractors may not appear at all.

Alaska drew $18.45 billion across all of fiscal 2025 and $16.65 billion in 2024. Five weeks remain in this one.

Three days earlier the same rollup showed $14.96 billion and ranked Alaska 44th. It refreshes weekly.
