AFN holds a subsistence listening session in Fairbanks on Aug. 31

Tribal leaders, elders, subsistence harvesters and community members near Fairbanks can share their concerns and priorities with the Alaska Federation of Natives at a listening session on Monday, Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall. Lunch will be provided, and those who can't attend can submit comments online through Sept. 30 at nativefederation.org.

The Fairbanks stop is part of AFN's "Guided by Community Voices" series, which has also visited Dillingham. AFN says the sessions are meant to gather perspectives on the future of subsistence and shape its advocacy on how subsistence is managed — a live question, given the recent legal fights over Alaska's rural subsistence priority.
