A Fairbanks homeowner interrupted a burglary. Troopers made an arrest eight days later.

A Fairbanks homeowner walked in on a burglary in progress Aug. 19, told the man he was calling troopers, and watched him leave in a black Subaru. Troopers searched the area and did not find him.

A week later, on Aug. 26, a judge issued a $15,000 felony warrant for Arther Chesley on charges of first-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft. The bond had to be posted in cash. Under state law, fourth-degree theft covers property worth less than $250.

The Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Unit tracked Chesley to a residence off Hess Avenue and arrested him the next day. He was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

The trooper dispatch does not say what was taken or whether the homeowner was hurt.

The charges are accusations, and Chesley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
