A 16-year-old boy died Friday after he was found unresponsive near Pillar Creek Beach in Kodiak, Alaska State Troopers said. Troopers do not suspect foul play.
Troopers were notified at 12:50 pm Friday that the teen had been found unresponsive near the beach, according to the troopers' online dispatch. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead.

Next of kin have been notified. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
In May, a 17-year-old boy died after his vehicle went into Lake Rose Tead near Pasagshak, also on Kodiak Island. He was trapped underwater when troopers arrived.
