We also need to continue working with the assembly and our partners to increase staffing at APD in general and to strengthen retention efforts so the department can accommodate public safety needs like this across our neighborhoods. That's also why the conversation we'll have later tonight about public safety technology is so important. Technology is not a substitute for our officers, but it can help officers work more effectively, improve safety for officers and the public, and allow us to make the most of the resources we have. So I urge support of the S version of AO 2026 -108, an approach that both enables modern policing tools and provides strong safeguards for privacy and accountability.
