You can name your own price to see the Tlingit opera in Juneau

Every remaining ticket for the closing performance of "Ḵutulagaaw: The Tlingit-Russian Battles" is pay-as-you-can at the door. Buyers name their own price.

A limited number of pay-as-you-can tickets will also be available by request at the Thunder Mountain Middle School entrance before the Sept. 12, 13, 18 and 19 performances. Opening night is the one exception.

For everyone else, tickets run $45 Friday and Saturday, $35 Sunday, $20 for students and $10 for anyone 18 and under, with 25 percent off for groups of six or more. Alaska Seaplanes and Alaska Airlines are discounting flights to Juneau during the run.

The opera, produced by Sealaska Heritage Institute and Perseverance Theatre and billed as the first Tlingit opera in recorded history, premieres Sept. 11 and runs through Sept. 20 at Thunder Mountain Middle School, where it moved after an electrical failure disabled the stage lighting at Juneau-Douglas High School.
