Gusts to 60 mph on the Richardson Highway through 7 p.m. Tuesday

Drivers on the Richardson Highway north of Trims Camp face gusts to 60 mph Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Fairbanks set the wind advisory to run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. AKDT Tuesday.

South winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected across the Eastern Alaska Range north of Trims Camp. That zone covers Richardson Highway mileposts 224 to 259, including Black Rapids and Donnelly Dome. The advisory lists three impacts: unsecured objects blown around, tree limbs blown down, and a few power outages.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution," the forecast office says in the advisory.
