Drivers of high-profile vehicles should use extra caution through Windy Pass in the Northern Denali Borough, where gusts up to 65 mph are forecast until 4 a.m. Wednesday. South winds are sustained at 30 to 45 mph.

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks issued the Wind Advisory Monday afternoon. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution," the advisory said.

It follows a High Wind Warning the office issued Sunday for the same area. That warning also ran through Wednesday and forecast south winds of 30 to 50 mph with gusts to 70 mph. Monday's advisory is the current product in effect.

Forecasters also expect unsecured objects to blow around, tree limbs to come down and a few power outages.

The same office has an advisory in effect through 4 a.m. Wednesday for Delta Junction, with gusts to 55 mph and blowing dust cutting visibility. Another advisory covers the Eastern Alaska Range north of Trims Camp, with gusts to 65 mph.
