West Petersville Road is washed out, and the creek won't let crews in

West Petersville Road is cut in both directions at mile 17.5, where Kenny Creek washed out the crossing. There is no reopening date.

The holdup is the creek itself. Crews cannot start repairs until the water drops and slows enough to work in safely, and the state has not guessed at when that will be.

Days of rain did it. Two storm systems dropped as much as three and a half inches across the Susitna Valley this week, onto ground and waterways already swollen from earlier rain, with flood watches up from Hatcher Pass to Talkeetna.
