Unalaska votes Oct. 6, at the one polling place in town

Unalaska's municipal election for city and school board seats is Tuesday, Oct. 6, at City Hall on Raven Way, the only polling place on the island. Polls open at 8 am and close at 8 pm.

Six people will run it. The City Council appointed City Clerk Estkarlen Magdaong as Election Board chair, with Yvonne Sabater and Judy Huling as judges and Christy Berikoff and Peter Withers as clerks. They report at 7:30 am.

Those who are not city employees get $20 an hour, paid out of the clerk's budget. Magdaong told the council the rate "matches what the State of Alaska, Division of Elections pays their election workers."

A three-member committee of Magdaong, Sabater and council member Shari Coleman meets Friday, Oct. 9, to review the count.
