Two women reported overdue near Glennallen were, per troopers, 'just out enjoying Alaska'

Someone called Alaska State Troopers on Wednesday morning to report two women overdue in the Glennallen area. Troopers reached out to Park Service rangers in McCarthy, who tracked them down.

They were fine. No help needed, no evacuation, no emergency at all. In the words of the trooper dispatch, they "were just out enjoying Alaska."

Troopers took the happy ending as a chance to repeat the advice that makes these calls end well: before you head into the backcountry, tell someone where you're going and when you plan to be back.
