Two Anchorage-based Koniag subsidiaries received U.S. Department of State federal contract awards worth a combined $1.57 million within four days. Both are listed in federal records as participants in the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program for disadvantaged small businesses, which allows both competed and sole-source awards. The work is in Virginia.

Koniag Professional Services received the larger award: $1.39 million for forensic data analyst support services under contract 19AQMM26F7244, according to the USAspending.gov award record. The award runs from Sept. 29, 2026, to Sept. 29, 2027. Koniag Data Solutions received $181,380 for tables and power installation at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center under contract 19FS1A26F7021. That one-year contract began Sept. 25.

The State Department also awarded Koniag Professional Services $305,222 for policy support services on Sept. 26, under a separate contract, 19AQMM26F7210. That order, under the same purchase agreement as the forensic order, was competed among 8(a) firms and drew two offers, its record shows. Full records for the two newest orders have not posted. In all, Koniag Professional Services has six State Department orders starting Sept. 25 to 30, worth about $2.5 million.

GSA records list Koniag Data Solutions as an Alaska Native Corporation-owned firm in the MAS 8(a) pool, a General Services Administration list of 8(a) vendors, for sole-source and competitive work.

In a March 2016 report, the Government Accountability Office found that the SBA's ability to monitor ANC subsidiaries' compliance with 8(a) restrictions relies on contract information from other agencies that is sometimes incomplete.
