A Juneau company, HunaTek System Solutions LLC, has a new $1 million order from the U.S. Department of State for administrative and staffing support at the department's Bureau of African Affairs. It is set to run from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2027. It adds to work HunaTek already does for the same bureau: a $9.45 million administrative support order that runs through Feb. 28, 2027, performed in Washington, D.C., the record shows.

Federal records list the company at 9301 Glacier Highway in Juneau. The award description names no Alaska work.

GSA eLibrary, the General Services Administration's contractor catalog, identifies HunaTek as an Alaska Native corporation-owned firm and a certified small disadvantaged business. The company holds State Department orders through a 2022 staffing contract awarded without competition under the 8(a) program for disadvantaged small businesses. Those include a $1,038,213 order for staffing at the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and orders of $608,321 and $180,000 last week.

USAspending.gov counts awards to Alaska recipients in the state's federal totals, which reached $17.38 billion as of Sept. 24. "It is possible to separate whether or not the recipient organization is located in the state or whether they are just providing services in the state," Brett Watson, a University of Alaska Anchorage economist, said at a June 23 Commonwealth North forum.
