Troopers investigate suspected drugs found at Fairbanks Correctional Center

Alaska State Troopers received a report of possible drugs found at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on Aug. 18, 2026.

Troopers placed the substance into evidence and sent it to the state crime lab, which will determine what it is. The case is ongoing, and no arrests or charges have been announced.

That account comes from a single entry in the troopers' daily dispatch, AK26081237, posted early Wednesday. It places the substance at the correctional center rather than inside it, and does not say where at the facility it was found or who found it.

The dispatches record an earlier drug case at the same jail. On May 27, 2026, an inmate brought to the facility by Pretrial Services was found with methamphetamine, and charges were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office, according to dispatch AK26048332.
