Troopers find drugs on an inmate at the Fairbanks jail

Alaska State Troopers found drugs on an inmate being booked into the Fairbanks Correctional Center on Wednesday, and are forwarding charges to the district attorney. The dispatch does not name the inmate or say what the substance was, and it is being sent for testing.

It is the third time this year troopers have investigated drugs at the jail. They sent a substance found there to the state crime lab in August, and in May an inmate brought in by Pretrial Services was found with methamphetamine.

Any charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
