Troopers call Kenny Lake church fire suspicious

Fire struck Mountain View Baptist Church in Kenny Lake early Tuesday, and Alaska State Troopers are treating the cause as suspicious.

Troopers responded just after midnight on Sept. 15 to a report of a fire at the church, according to a dispatch troopers posted Sunday, five days later. Fire and EMS crews arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze, limiting damage to the structure. No one was hurt.

Troopers filed the case, AK26091509, as a suspicious structure fire, still under investigation. No cause has been determined and no suspect has been named.

The State Fire Marshal's Office investigates the origin and cause of significant fires alongside local departments.
