Troopers arrest Kenai man on drug warrant after Nikiski traffic stop

Alaska State Troopers arrested Bryan Chunn, 43, of Kenai on an outstanding drug warrant Sunday afternoon after a traffic stop on the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski.

Troopers recognized Chunn as the passenger during the stop at about 2:23 p.m., according to the trooper dispatch. The warrant listed an original charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. The dispatch does not say it stemmed from a methamphetamine allegation. The investigation located 1.30 grams of methamphetamine in his belongings.

Chunn was remanded to Wildwood Correctional Complex on the warrant, a new fourth-degree drug charge and a probation violation. Troopers note that charges in dispatch reports are accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent.

The Department of Public Safety's 2025 annual drug report lists methamphetamine among the most common drugs in the Kenai region. The dispatch did not list an arraignment date.
