Troopers find two asleep in sedan towing stacked logs, cocaine in driver's lap

Troopers driving near Skyline Drive in Soldotna on Sunday afternoon pulled up alongside a black sedan hauling a trailer stacked high with logs — and found both the driver and his passenger asleep in their seats, with a folded paper packet of cocaine in the driver's lap, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The stop happened around 4 p.m. Sept. 13. Troopers arrested the driver, a 56-year-old Anchor Point man, on misdemeanor allegations of misconduct involving a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. He was taken to Wildwood Correctional Complex.

Troopers didn't say whether the passenger was charged, and no court date was listed. The charges are accusations, and the driver is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
