Tanana's rebuilt village clinic has opened

Tanana's village health clinic has reopened after a rehabilitation project led by the Native Village of Tanana, replacing a building the tribe had said needed structural repair. Tribal leaders gathered in the Yukon River community last Friday to mark the opening, according to Tanana Chiefs Conference.

The clinic is one of nearly 40 village and regional clinics TCC operates across an Interior region spanning 235,000 square miles and 39 villages. As before, patients needing surgery, cancer care or diagnostic imaging still travel to the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks.

The Native Village of Tanana, a federally recognized tribal government, owns the project, which it solicited as a design-build renovation of the tribe's existing clinic rather than new construction.

The account of the opening comes from TCC's own weekly broadcast, which didn't include voices from Tanana residents, patients or clinic staff, or detail the clinic's services, staffing or cost.
