A 27-year-old Kodiak man was jailed without bail after Soldotna police said he fired a gun in a bar parking lot Oct. 9 and drove away.

Officers were called to the bar at about 10:31 pm on a report of a man with a knife and a gun, according to a Soldotna Police Department press release issued Wednesday. Police said the man had fired a gun in the parking lot before leaving in a black 2018 Dodge Charger. Officers caught him soon after.

He was taken to Wildwood Pretrial on one count of DUI, two counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a weapon and one count of violating conditions of release, police said.

Alaska Court System records list five misdemeanor charges filed Oct. 10. One is not in the police release: improper use of registration, title or plates. The records describe the weapons counts as possessing a firearm while intoxicated and firing it recklessly.

Police note the charges are accusations and defendants are presumed innocent.
