Sitka's Moller Field parking lot paving moves to Monday, Oct. 12
Paving of Sitka's main Moller Field parking lot has been rescheduled to Monday, Oct. 12, the City and Borough of Sitka said Wednesday, citing its contractor, SECON. The main lot will be fully closed while paving is underway. The city had set paving for Oct. 7 and 8. Wednesday's update does not say how long paving will now take.
Drivers will need to park elsewhere. The city lists three alternate areas: Turnaround Skate Park, the Lower Moller parking area and the back lot at SEARHC Long-Term Care. Drivers should park only in areas marked by cones "to ensure adequate parking remains available for SEARHC employees and visitors."
Pedestrians should follow the pathways shown on the city's project map to reach Moller Field and get around the work zone, and should stay out of active work areas.
The schedule has shifted before. The city's Moller Field Parking Lot Paving Project UPDATE page first set work for the week of Sept. 21 through Sept. 30, then said Sept. 24 that paving would push into October.
