The Nome Common Council certified the results of the city's Oct. 6 municipal election Thursday. Five council members voted yes, and no one spoke against it.

Each race had only one name on the ballot. Incumbent Adam Martinson and Randy Oles won council terms through October 2029. Utility Board incumbents Derek McLarty and Carl Emmons won two-year and three-year terms. School Board incumbent Megan Sigvanna Tapqaq won a three-year term, and David O'Neill won a one-year term. The resolution also certified James T. Sherman for a Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation board seat, decided on a separate ballot. Of 2,540 registered voters, 251, or about 10%, cast city ballots.

Before certifying the results, the council voted to accept one questioned ballot and deny another, following the city clerk's recommendation.

Nome's code requires a winner to take 40% of the vote plus one, or the top two candidates go to a runoff. Every winner topped 89%.
