Alaska regulators would not call the cleanup finished. In January 2025 the Department of Environmental Conservation signed off on former Building B-1 but not the former Engine Generator Building, requiring more characterization under 18 AAC 75.335.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has now awarded Ahtna Solutions, LLC a $735,000 delivery task order, ID 1305M426F0097, one job off a standing contract, for "additional site remedial action" at the former weather office and housing site, running Sept. 30, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027.

A 2017 assessment found diesel range organics, lead, 1,2,3-trichloropropane and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons above state cleanup levels on the 5.7 acres, in use from 1941 to 2014. Crews took out 45 cubic yards of lead-contaminated soil and 103 of petroleum-contaminated soil in 2018. DEC file 310.38.039 is still active.

Ahtna Solutions is a certified 8(a) subsidiary of Ahtna, Incorporated, a small disadvantaged business in a federal program. NOAA competed the parent contract as an 8(a) set-aside in 2023, drawing four offers. It paid the firm $186,644 in August for groundwater monitoring elsewhere in Alaska.
